CAN/MAR Week #2

Monday July 14, 2025 (Bastille Day)

Our first day in Acadia National Park; typical National Park----OVER CROWED!  We drove the 20+ mile loop road in the park. Interesting but being a maritine park much of it was fogged in. We camped at the Seawall camp ground which was nice except everybody seem to like to run their gererators the maximum time. When we got up the next morning as soon as it turn 8 am all the generators turned on.  Other than that it was a good campground.  We drove into Bar Harbor and immediately drove out---tourist trap. We then drove the south west side of the island (Acadia Nat Pk is on an island) and found a restaurant where Lynn could get her first Maine Lobster Roll.

On Tuesday we got a reservation to drive up Cadillac Mountian; the highest point on the east coast.

We found a funky BBQ place for lunch with a dog menu. Then it is onto our next campground on the  Schoodic peninsula. The campground area was once a top secret navy listening post. This is on of the nicest campground we have ever used. The campground was 100% booked, but the site very private.
We stayed here two nights, but had to move to a new site for the second day.

Thursday it was off to Canada but for only one day. A short ~2 hour drive in foggy conditions to Roosevelt Campobello International Park, which is in New Brunswick. This is an international park run by both the Canadians and US. This was FDR's summer "cottage" while growing up and then given to him and Eleanor as a wedding gift from FDR's mother. It's just a small cottage with 19 bedrooms. T'hen we moved onto the nearby Provincal Park Herring Cove.

After this it is back to the US for a short ~30 mile drive then back to Canada.

Friday 18th:
Turns out the weather improved and instead doing the drive back to the USA and on to Canada we took two ferry rides avoiding the two international crossing. It was a pleasant drive through New Brunswick even if it was mostly on a freeway. Our destination was Pondrosa Pines Campground near Hopewell Provincial Park.

Saturday 19th
The day started out clean but cool. We took Zac on a ~5 mile hike to Hopewell Provincial Park where you can walk the beach at low tide among the "Flower Pots" and kayak around them at high tide.

We were going to kayak the flower pots in the evening, but the winds came up and the outfitter cancelled the outing.

Sunday 7/20/25
We drove to Wolf Point Campground in Fundy National Park. For the first night we got an electrical site, but had to move to a non-service site for the next two nights. On the drive we went back to Hopewell Cape to take in High Tide:-

The same flowers pots as seen yesterday but at high tide

On the way to camp we went to Cape Enrage which has a light house.
