We left our funky RV park in downtown Dawson City and went out in search for breakfast and groceries. This took a little of an hour and then it was on to car touring the rest of the town which took less than a half hour. Then we drove to the midnight dome site which is a small mountain above Dawson where everyone goes to watch the solstice. Even the miners did this and had a drunken party. We then headed south on the Klondike Hwy towards Whitehorse. Completely different terrain then yesterday. This was mostly a wide broad valley in the boreal forest. Long stretchs were of recent wildfire burns. We also drove through about a 5 mile section under construction which was mostly a mud road ( good thing we did not wash the rig in Dawson). We did encounter a fox on the road . We made camp at Tatchun Lake CG outside of Carmarks (Carmarks is named after the man or his wife who discovered goldto start the Kondike Gold Rush).
