ALCAN Day33 McCarthy and half way back

August 7,2024
Left Squirrel Creek campground and headed toward McCarthy/Kennicott inthe Wrangell National Park ( which is the largest nation park)and Preserve. Much of the drive is along the Cooper River, where we saw Fish Wheel for catching salmon. This drive was mostly on the "McCarthy Hwy" which is all unpaved for about 60 miles. Kennicott is a ghost mining town for copper. Interesting old mining works, but I was slightly disappointed. Then we drove back on this unpaved road to the Kuskulana Gorge Bridge. This is an old 525 foot railroad bridge converted for cars built in 1910. This where we are boondocking for the night.
